"Uiro" is a traditional Japanese steamed cake made of cereals powder such as rice flour and sugar.

Nagoya Uiro, Yamaguchi Uiro, Awa Uiro is the three major. The feature of Awa Uiro is sugar called “Awa-Wasanbonto”. "Wasanbonto" is the refined sugar that is made in micro particles sugar by the unique and traditional manufacturing method in Shikoku where Awa is located.
It is said that the people from the domain head to the common people in Tokushima ate "Awa Uiro" at the Puppet Festival on March 3rd in the lunar calendar. Thereafter, it has customarily eaten on that day in Tokushima for more than 200 years.
